It is worth noting that the basic premise of this effort is simply that it be self-perpetuating. That is, if the OVBSAOC can make enough money from each year's raffle receipts to buy (and restore, some years) the next bike, then haul it around and promote it through the next event-season, they consider the results a success.

It aint a big money-makin' deal. Instead, the whole idea is to provide one lucky winner, year after year, with a super-fine vintage BSA. And that's five bucks well spent.

You all might be interested to know that the 1st bike raffled off back in 1908 of something (maybe 1984????) was a 1950 something B33 (1957 maybe). That bike had been purchased new from a dealer in Toronto, Ohio named Al Hinch, and the club bought it from the family of the original owner, Mary McGarry. The winner of that first raffle bike was a lady from Steubenville, Ohio, who's name escapes me at the moment. The B33 was subsequently traded for a '68 Victor. The Victor is still around, but the whereabouts of the B33 are unknown. Somewhere in Northern Ohio, the last I heard.
